TracElite for Forestry

TracElite provides the track and trace and chain of custody management functionality in CI World

TracElite is in use worldwide to enable the tracking of timber from the standing tree in the ground to finished product for export – right across the supply chain. By monitoring wood products at key control points and tracking assets as they move from one control point to the next, changes in status are recognized and recorded so that at any time, a full online audit trail is available. The system ensures total visibility in the chain and gives producers the ability to demonstrate the sustainability of their products.

Timber supply chain management

The unique CI World interface depicts a configured supply chain or asset chain of custody as a series of ‘nodes’ which represent critical control points in the supply chain. Each node – or control point – has a corresponding data capture mode which records information specific to that node.

CI World uses TracElite to manage and track timber as it moves along the supply chain. Business information is captured along the supply chain providing conformance detail on how timber is being managed and processed in the forest or factory. The data is transmitted from the forest or factory to CI World which in turn provides immediate visibility on operations. Processed reports are available to authorised users directly from CI World via the internet (by authorised users) anywhere in the world.

In a typical application for the timber industry, a handheld computer (HHC) is used at each of the critical control points in the supply chain to record details relating to timber products by scanning barcodes or even recording Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag details, using tags which are attached to the individual pieces of timber.

According to the World Bank, illegal logging causes losses in assets and revenue in excess of US$15 billion a year in developing countries alone. Timber companies and governments are using CI World to enhance control of their supply chains, to secure improved inventory management and to promote the economic and environmental future of their local communities. CI World enables the tracking of timber from the standing tree in the ground to finished product for export – right across the supply chain.

CI World for Food

As consumers are becoming increasingly aware of food quality, safety, origin and traceability – pressure is being exerted on processors to keep track of every component in the manufacturing process.  CI World is being used to monitor food supply chains from farm to factory providing growers, farmers, producers and agronomists with business critical data on issues ranging from crop quality in the field through to product characteristics as food ships to consumer locations.
