CI World™ for Food - asset tracking and supply chain management
CI World is used to track and manage food assets as they move along the supply chain. Business data is acquired in the field, in the store or in the factory using handheld devices equipped with Helveta’s proprietary mobile device management software – CI Mobile™.
CI Mobile combines data entered manually into the handheld with data from GPS, RFID and bar code readers to accurately record the way food assets are being managed and processed across the supply chain.
CI Mobile transmits data from remote locations to CI World servers via any available means of internet connection – from satellite, through Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth to dial-up modem. As data is received, CI World provides immediate visibility on operations. Processed reports and analysis can be accessed directly from CI World through a standard web browser anywhere in the world.
CI World can either be hosted on Helveta’s servers or installed locally on customer hardware. The moment data arrives on the servers, CI World analyses and processes it to generate field maps, management reporting and audit history for all transactions relating to the processing of food assets managed in the system.
CI World is comprised of fully packaged functionality:
- CI Author report writer module
- CI Configurator mobile device interface configurator
- Standard field management report formats
- Standard store management report formats
- Standard factory management reporting
- Audit trail reporting
- CI World rules engine
The CI World rules engine analyses data on receipt from the field, store or factory site for compliance with pre-determined rules. For example:
- crop quality issues in the field
- harvesting outside a defined field area
- yield rate or quality drop offs in the field, store or factory
- product characteristic deficiencies at a particular storage site or grower location.
These business issues can all be automatically identified by CI World and notifications are generated automatically for management to investigate.
CI World technology allows remote visibility of stored and processed products. It provides growers, farm managers, agronomists and buyers with the tools to:
- trend environmental parameters, alerting them to deviations from optimal performance
- predict imminent, adverse environmental events - allowing interventions before problems cause economic loss
- view quality and status of stored and processed product - anywhere in the world through a web browser
- track interventions by managers and site personnel, to monitor and enforce best practice process and procedures
- trace processed products from the field to the factory.
Using the rules engine, CI World allows significant business process improvements to be made across the food supply chain:
- Enhancing remote stock control and visibility
- Reducing stock losses due to quality degradation, crop deterioration or logistics issues
- Improving crop inventory management through accurate mapping with substantially reduced lead times
- Increasing manufacturing conversion through enhanced field and store quality control
- Reducing waste in the field, store and factory
- Improved chain of custody management enabling reduced risk in procurement for retail and wholesale buyers.
CI World for food deployments deliver substantial Return on Investment with payback delivered in months and weeks.
